OPEN UP BY BUILDING TRUST
- PARTNER MOVEMENTS
Connect with a friend. Work with a partner to play with shapes and get deeper
into postures. The idea is to learn trust and interconnectivity between partners and
allow ourselves to be assisted and vulnerable in the arms of another.

OPEN YOUR HEART
with Rebecca Jean
Our heart is our absolute life support. Our heart pumps energy through our bodies
every second that we breathe. This is why when we are emotional, we feel heavy inour hearts. When we are scared or stressed, we have a tendency of closing up,
hunching our bodies over to protect our heart. It is our body’s natural intuition to
cradle our heart center whenever we feel mentally and physically vulnerable.
As we find time to create space for your mind and body at this retreat, we take a
moment to create space where we need it most.
In the Open Heart workshop, we connect with our heart chakra, or Anahata, to find
balance, calmness and serenity. You will explore movements to lift the heart center
to release tension and tightness that keep us from feeling open and free. Allowing
our bodies to extend in ways we never thought possible.
As our Anahata is located near our thymus, the gland responsible for keeping our
immune system working properly, it is vital for us to keep our hearts open and clear
so that we are not susceptible to illness and disease.
Discover ways we can release all weight we hold in our heart center. Let go of your heavy heart and create a place for our bodies and mind to be compassionate, humble, and loving to ourselves and others.
‘You will find that it is necessary to let things go, simply for the reason that they are heavy.’

How does one define Beauty, what does it feel like and does it fade with age?
There are many misconceptions about beauty and many of us who dread growing older. Must we resist the signs of ageing? The more we buy into learned beliefs about ageing that are not our own, the less beautiful we feel, and the more we fear the passage of time.
This Pro-ageing workshop aims to reverse conventional misconceptions of what is
beautiful, and show you another possibility - that every passing year is cause for
celebration, and every decade adds depth to your own personal style.
By working with the elements and their corresponding chakras, you will be able to discern between which beliefs serve you and which ones do not. Learned beliefs that tell you that 'you are not enough' dull your vision and cause you to lose sight of how beautiful you are.
Sharing tools to clear your literal and figurative closet of clutter, I will show you
how to create space for your inner child to play, lead you to your own fountain of youth.
You will leave Bamboo Island feeling vibrant, refreshed and reborn …you will be a few days older, and you will Be the Beauty that you seek.

LIVE IN YOUR BODY - LET'S WALK ALIGNMENT
with Karen Law
If you have ever seen a really fine surfer riding a big wave along the face of an
ocean shore, you have witnessed the master of the balance between control and
surrender. In order to ride, the surfer must control the board and surrender to the wave. If he surrenders to his board or if he tries to control the wave, he will certainly have a hard job instead of an exhilarating ride and will probably wipe out.
- Joseph Heller on 'Controlling surrender and Surrendering control’, Bodywise
What is your body doing as you read these words? What sensations are you
experiencing? Do you feel light, relaxed, heavy or tight? And when was the last time you checked in with yourself in this way?
Observing your body and your gait, or way of walking, is how I begin and close
every Pilates session. Doing so invites you to explore your neurophysiological habits and sensory awareness. Noticing the impact that mindful movement has in our bodies helps us to develop tactile learning.
The Body As The Hologram of The Being
In an abstract sense the body may be seen as an exact physical expression of a
person’s mind and spirit, manifesting the thoughts, emotions and intuitions that make a person unique and distinctly human.
Together we will check in with our bodies, actively align its elements, interacting
within a holistic, integrative movement program. And leave the workshop with the following tools
- self body screening at rest and during movement
- improved postural habits by learning ‘How to Sit, Stand and Move’ in your world
- movement exercises that Release tension and Restore vitality
- working with your natural alignment to regain flexibility and Rejuvenate wellbeing
We will practice being responsible for our bodies as a choice. And experience actively balancing body, mind and spirit, in the simple acts of daily life.
